Chap Goh Meh (Hokkien for "the 15th night") marks the final day of the Lunar New Year celebrations. Traditionally observed by Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, it’s sometimes known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day.

One well-known tradition involves unmarried women tossing mandarin oranges into rivers or the sea, wishing for good luck in love and marriage. The fruits are sometimes inscribed with hopeful messages or their contacts, in hopes of a suitor to pick the orange up.
